  • The Popular Education and Enrichment for Refugees (PEER) is an afterschool program at Monroe Clark Middle School specifically designed to address the unique academic and social needs of refugee students. From reading comprehension to multiplication, from learning how to use the San Diego transit system to maintaining an urban garden, PEER gets students involved inside and outside of the classroom. Hand Up Teen Leadership - This nationally-recognized program offers high school students an opportunity to learn about social change while making a measurable impact on the community. Teens receive leadership development training and run food distributions, coordinate food drives and fundraisers, organize advocacy and education activities, and plan special events that support the Hand Up Youth Food Pantry.
